This helmet is an interesting example of the M-40 style shell with remnants of an original period applied camo finish. The liner and split rivets are missing. However, it would be an excellent candidate for restoration should someone choose to do so. Although, the helmet displays quite nicely as it is. The decal is in excellent condition and really stands out against the mottled colors of the paint. It has relatively little damage considering its age. Other than some minor loss to one of the wing tips, a few scuffs, and some crazing, it is almost completely intact, including the national emblem. With prices of original camo helmets above the reach of the average collector, this shell will fill a notch at a price that makes it possible to have a nice example for a reasonable investment. Great looker!
