This beautiful second pattern felt pith helmet is in unissued condition. Most of these helmets, seen at shows, were imported after WWII and stamped on the interior of the liner band with the English words "Made in Germany", as required by import laws.
This fantastic piece has no such markings. The stampings that are present are the size 59 and the makers initials JMW over the date 1942. One would be hard pressed to find a nicer example as these felt helmets are often damaged or crushed. Mostly those seen have had their thin leather chinstraps broken.
Both of the helmets badges are present and firmly attached with the original pins. A very fine example of a wonderfully conditioned pith helmet that would look fantastic next to an original Tropical Cammo Stahlhelm!
