This lovely Edo period kozuka is finished in a rich Shakudo (both face & back) with nanako panel of high relief (takabori) and depicts a newyear’s trio of hat, bells, and gift box lavished with beautifully detailed flowing cords and accented with gold utori.
The reverse of this kozuka has a few small indentations on its surface with some respectable wear & condition for its age. In hand, the piece has a very solid feel and weight that would balance nicely with a blade installed. An interesting motif with exceptional dimension and detail. This kozuka measures 9/16"(1.43cm) x 3 7/8"(9.84cm).
