This superb M42 helmet is one of the finest examples I have ever had the pleasure of offering.
Finished in the typical matte gray-green, the paint on this piece is indicative of an unissued helmet and shows only the most minor handling wear. There was no chinstrap with this helmet and I see no indication it ever had one installed. The lack of a decal was intentional to speed up production and reduce visibility in the field.
The rear apron is stamped CKL64 over what looks like 4767. The interior crown of the helmet has the inspectors ink stamping which I believe reads "Abgenommen Wehrmacht Beschaffungsamt, Bekleidungs und Austrustungs, Abnahmestelle V." The ink stamp has blurred somewhat, but the color is still very strong and the liner is in fantastic condition complete with its original string.
There is not much more I can say about this piece as it speaks for itself! It would be very difficult to upgrade to a nicer example. This is definitely an example of the proverbial "Sleeper" we all dream of finding!.
